An insurance investigator, John Trent, is assigned to investigate the disappearance of horror writer Sutter Cane and retrieve the manuscript for his final novel. Cane’s stories are known to have a strange impact on readers, causing disorientation and paranoia. Trent initially believes it’s a publicity stunt but discovers a hidden map on Cane’s book covers pointing to the fictional town of Hobb’s End.
Trent, accompanied by Cane’s editor Linda Styles, travels to Hobb’s End and realizes that the town from Cane’s novels exists. As they explore, they encounter bizarre and nightmarish events, with the line between fiction and reality blurring. Trent becomes increasingly disturbed by the unfolding horrors, and it becomes clear that Cane’s influence extends beyond his books, affecting the very fabric of reality. The investigation takes a surreal turn as Trent grapples with the terrifying consequences of Cane’s creations.
